Optimistically thought I'd help out my house buyer by crimping the 24 CAT6A cables running through my house, to try and neaten up the overly-techy patch panel in the spare room.

First one and I'm giving up... I thought pass through connectors were the new hotness that would help make all of our lives easier?!

@bbrks CAT6A requires different connectors because of the thicker wire gauge (I think).
I also discovered it the hard way after I already passed the cables through the house and had to buy special keystone connectors for the outlets.
That's why I opted for regular old CAT6 cables and pass through connectors for the patch cables between the panel and the switch.

Or you could just let the new owner deal with it :D

@alesgenova I think I might just leave it for them! Patch panel and gigabit switch for the entire house going to multiple wall sockets in each room.

My only mistake was putting the rackmount patch panel and switch in a corner of a bedroom (currently office) instead of out the way somewhere and not leaving enough slack under the floor to move it anywhere else (like up into the attic)

Lesson learned for my next house at least!

@alesgenova As it turns out, the plugs I got were 0.15mm too small :) No wonder I struggled!

Have some on the way that can take 1.35mm of insulation over a 23AWG conductor instead of only 1.2mm - will save the smaller diameter plugs for patch cables that don't use as thick insulation.
